The world can be so vast when you fix your vision outward instead of within. Maybe that's what the Minds of the Jettison had been afraid of discovering all along.

Never mind that, though. You never truly leave the past behind, but lugging it around with you will only weigh you down. Phenari, having considered both sides of the argument, decides in the end that she wants to break free. No more spending time wondering what a version of her long-gone might have done. No need to waste hours afraid that a version of Marushi long-lost would think differently. The future is waiting for Phenari. It is waiting for them both.

The moving city keeps moving on. Phenari redoubles her work in legendkeeping, knowing somehow that the archives she had established did not cease to be useful once the Jettison's population emigrated from it. Legends, figments of the past, are never truly left behind, after all. And perhaps, somewhere in the far future, although the Minds of the moving city cannot keep walking in tandem forever, the lessons they have learned and the stories they leave behind will be of help to someone else.
