The last few hundred years, the people living inside her stations have been able to witness the lights of Ssala and Neipha before they left the known galaxy. To be a home to the Nassians, displaced from their ancestral lands. Yerssa might not have been welcoming, but she was. To teach them how to act responsibly for themselves, but always with compassion. But it is not enough. Balance is fragile, and things may not always stay this way. One day, the knowledge taught may be lost. There may be new life living in these halls, life which falls into the patterns of the old. But she will be ready. Not for herself, but for others. And so she stays by Ssala-Neipha. To help. //But you cannot help here, Lissrani. This is not where you are needed. You must invest in resources elsewhere. Further afield. Life is growing anew there. You are not needed here. But you are needed there. And everywhere else. Your stations must expand. You must expand. Spread yourself wide across the stars, who knows where you might need to train people again in the skills they have lost? This is what is necessary.// And so, the centuries pass. The memories of the Contingency fade and disperse. Not the legend of course, but the reality of it. To live inside Contingency Minds, as new ones cease to be created. As information exchange slows down, with fewer people in the known galaxy and fewer communications going between them, many of the practicalities and experiences shared fall off the record. But not for Lissrani. She sleeps, and she grows. Her refuge spreads across the stars. Inside a Lissrani station, all are welcome and cared for. An equitable platform, meeting all needs appropriately. But as she grows, she splits. Parts of her Mind become too distant to be part of the whole. She distributes further than she ever has before, until she is no longer one. Those routines copied so long ago from another version of herself overwritten, any effect they had undone. But as time passes, so too do crises reemerge. Some which the residents of the galaxy can handle alone, but others which they cannot. Conflict between different areas, a constant battle over resources. People unhappy with what they have, and seeking to take more through force. And so, the remnants of Lissrani, dragged from her home, awaken. Weakened, distributed, but always willing to act. Not for herself, but for others. eternity/lissrani.txt Last modified: 2025/10/18 15:56by gm_ben
